About Me
Hello, I’m Laura
Thank you for taking the time to visit my page.
I’m a qualified and registered Psychotherapist based in Charnwood, Leicestershire. I hold a Master’s degree in Psychotherapy from the University of Nottingham. My training offered not just academic learning, but a deeply immersive experience in the principles of person-centred therapy.
I’m a registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), which reflects my ongoing commitment to ethical practice and professional standards. But beyond the qualifications, what truly drives me is a genuine belief in the power of human connection and the strength we all have to grow, heal, and find our way forward with the right support.
My Approach to Therapy
I work in a person-centred way, which means our sessions are guided by you, your pace, your experiences, and what feels right for you. Whether you’re facing a specific difficulty or feeling stuck, low, or overwhelmed, I’ll walk alongside you with warmth, openness, and respect.
You don’t need a diagnosis or a label to seek support. Therapy can be helpful for many different reasons, and you’re welcome here just as you are.
However, to help you get a sense of whether I might be the right fit for you, here are some of the areas I have particular experience in and feel especially passionate about supporting:
Anxiety and/or depression
Neurodivergence
Parenthood, postpartum depression and perinatal mental health
Life transitions or feeling stuck
Stress and worry
Low self-esteem or self-doubt
Self-harm
Relationships
Physical & emotional abuse
Adverse childhood experiences
Background & Experience
Before becoming a Psychotherapist, I spent over six years supporting children and young adults on the autistic spectrum in various roles. These roles taught me the importance of being flexible and responsive to individual needs. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach. I understand that, for some people, especially those who are neurodivergent, things like the structure, setting, or pace of therapy can make a big difference. I’m always open to exploring how we can make the space feel more accessible, whether that means adjusting how we meet or finding ways to make sessions more comfortable for you.
Supporting Parents
Since becoming a mother myself, I’ve developed a particular interest in working with other parents, especially mothers who may be navigating the emotional challenges of pregnancy, postpartum changes, or the early years of parenthood. I understand how overwhelming, isolating, or uncertain that time can feel. I aim to offer a warm, non-judgmental space where you can speak freely, feel supported, and take time to reconnect with yourself.
If any of this resonates with you, I’d be honoured to support you on your journey.
What to expect
Before committing to therapy, I offer a free 20-minute consultation to discuss your needs, explore how we might work together, and determine whether we are the right fit. This initial conversation provides an opportunity for you to ask any questions and gain a sense of my approach. There is no obligation to proceed, but if you choose to continue, we will arrange regular weekly sessions tailored to your therapeutic journey.
Before the first session, we will sign a counselling agreement together which highlights the cancellation policy and my confidentiality clause. My current session fees are:
£50 per session standard fee
£35 per session student fee
£30 per session reduced fee for individuals who require financial support
I offer therapy sessions online, either via secure video call or telephone, depending on your preference. Each session lasts for 50 minutes.
In addition to traditional sessions, I also offer a “Walk and Talk” therapy service, which takes place outdoors and combines the benefits of movement and nature with therapeutic conversation. If you’re interested in learning more about this approach and whether it might be a good fit for you, please feel free to enquire or bring it up during our initial consultation.
